District 5690 - Greensburg Relief Effort

The Cannonball Green Golf Course with its green grass and the few remaining trees in Greensburg, Kansas provided the backdrop for a Graduation Ceremony few thought could happen.

But few things are impossible when Rotary gets involved! Huge red, white and blue striped tents, equipped with chairs, stage, sound and large display screens sheltered the 2007 graduates and their friends and family for the Graduation Ceremony that re-united the community and drew national media attention.

Present behind the scenes, Rotarians were everywhere handling the endless details of organizing the event, providing safety and security, and hosting the reception for approximately 1,500 people. And yet, true their motto of "Service Above Self" their efforts did not detract from the ceremony or the graduates.

Through leadership, resources and the helping hands of hundreds of Rotarians, Rotary made good things happen in the tornado ravaged community of Greensburg, right here in the heartland of America.

And that is only the beginning! Generous Rotarians from around the globe have donated money that will be given to the Greensburg Relief at the direction of the Rotary Club of Greensburg, Kansas.
