Philip M. Michel
Phil retired as Vice President, Marketing for the Cessna Aircraft Company in February, 2007. During his 33 years with the company, he held a number of marketing, sales and communication positions. He was responsible for Cessna's worldwide advertising, marketing support and strategic marketing planning. He also directed the activities of the company's Cessna Pilot Center organization which provides flight instruction through a global network of affiliated training centers.
Prior Cessna assignments included management of Caravan utility turboprop marketing and sales, and service as Managing Director of Cessna Pacific, the company's sales and product support organization in Sydney, Australia. Phil continues to serve aviation industry trade organizations and other business clients in consulting roles in addition to his civic and community responsibilities.
Phil was the Charter Vice President of the West Wichita Rotary Club, served as it's President in 1992-1993, and has been on the Board of Directors on two occasions. District service includes Assistant Governor, and Chair of the District's PR Committee. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and Sustaining Member.
A graduate of Syracuse University, he has been active in a wide range of aviation trade associations. Phil was a founding Board member of the Regional Air Cargo Carriers Association, and served as Board Chair of GA Team 2000, the aviation industry's flight training promotional initiative. He is also a frequent speaker at universities, marketing forums and seminars, as well at aviation events.
Phil and his wife Carina have been married for 41 years and have two sons and three grandchildren. Carina owns and operates Warren Travel, Inc., and is a Paul Harris Fellow. His community service includes the Board and Executive Committee of the United Way of the Plains, the Board of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, and Trustee of the First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Foundation where he and his family have been members for 36 years.
